A Message from the Clerk of Court

The Bedford County Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court, located in the City of Bedford, Virginia will be taking applications for college students majoring in Law, political science, or any other related fields of study to work as an intern for our court beginning January 1, 2013.   The student would be working with confidential files, court forms, attending closed sessions of court, and completing any assigned duties or projects given by the Judge or myself.  Therefore, the Court will do a criminal background check and DMV check before choosing any intern.  Due to the general nature of responsibilities within the office, there will be an amount of clerical work involved and you must be aware of these responsibilities prior to applying.

 

Unfortunately, this is not a paid position.  What we do expect as the result of the internship is to offer students a glimpse into the workings of a juvenile and domestic relations court and offer exposure into the courtroom and local judges' decisions.  We do accept one clerical intern for this position each summer.

 

Please find a brief application that may be used for this summer's internship.  I ask that you provide the Court with a contact name and phone number within the placement service department of your educational institution where we may contact them for any future questions about your education, application, etc.  You may also make copies and distribute this notice and application to your educational institution's cooperative department.  You may fax your completed application to the Clerk's Office at 540-587-9395 or mail it to:
